With the debating season in full swing, it is a privilege to watch such talented young speakers, argue passionately about various current events and news items. The SACEE League to which Woodlands College belongs, hosts 6 round robin phases for seniors and another six round robin phases for juniors.

The Seniors rounds 1-3 took place at Willowmoore High School on the 24th of February, the College was represented by seven talented debaters from grades 10-12. The day was a huge success with Woodlands having 1 confirmed victory for the day while the third-round results are still closed. Tatenda Chigogora (Grade 12) as a particularly strong voice in the numerous political debates of the day. The College received numerous compliments regarding our speaking style and overall participation on the day. The next senior debating day is the 17th of March at Edenvale High School.

The first three rounds of junior competition took place on the 10th of March at Hoërskool Birchleigh in Kempton Park. Our junior team took on debaters from schools such as Waterstone College and Reddam Figure 1: Woodlands Junior Squad on first competition day at Hoërskool Birchleigh House Bedfordview, coming away with 2 confirmed victories with the third-round results still to be announced. Our talented young squad was bolstered by first speaker Robynne McMaster receiving 2 best speaker awards during the day. The next junior debating day is to be hosted at Woodlands on the 24th of March.
