The newly elected Senior Learner Council for 2019 embarked on a four-day camp to develop their leadership skills, solidify their teamwork skills and embrace their unique qualities. The camp took place from the 15-19 October 2018 at the Seasons Sport and Spa resort in the North West. The resort itself is located in lush surroundings outside of Brits and offers facilities including a spa, a bird watching hide, boma area and golf course.

Over the course of the four days, the students were afforded the opportunity to participate in a number of challenges and activities, which tested both their physical and mental accumen. They went zip-lining, white water rafting and were treated to a gala dinner at Die Ou Pastorie as the final event of the camp.

Marshall Goldsmith said, “One of the most important things a leader can do, is to lead by example. If you want everyone else to be passionate, committed, dedicated, and motivated, you go first! “ True to this motto, the SLC certainly proved their enthusiasm and motivation. Under the watchful eye of Mr Gaffney, Mr Labushagne and Mrs Harvey who accompanied them for the duration of the camp, these learners showed that they are ready to serve the school diligently in 2019.
