It enables students to mix with one another and instils within them a culture of mutual respect \u2013 respect towards their team mates, the opposition, and the umpires. At a time when good values and behaviour appear to be on the wane in society, cricket teaches children the importance of discipline and respect for authority whilst having fun on the field. It is a sport that teaches a student about self-reliance and practise. Aside from having a positive impact on child development, cricket is \u2013 quite simply \u2013 fantastic fun.<\/p>\n<p>Cricket also enjoys having exemplary role models to follow. We at Woodlands have been privileged enough to have one of the all-time greats of South African cricket, Fanie De Villiers, come to our school to promote cricket as well as teaching our students the art of learning through sports.<\/p>\n<p><!--\nCricket is a sport that reaches across boundaries of gender, race and class. It enables students to mix with one another and instills within them a culture of mutual respect - respect towards their team mates, the opposition and - most importantly - the umpires. At a time when good values and behaviour appear to be on the wane in society, cricket teaches children the importance of discipline and respect for authority whilst having fun on the field. It is a sport that teaches a student about self-reliance and practise. We at Woodlands have been privileged enough to have one of the all-time greats of South African cricket, Fanie De Villiers, come to our school to promote cricket as well as teaching our learners the art of learning through sports.\n\nCricket is a growing sport at Woodlands International College and we are optimistic that the 2017\/2018 season will attract even greater achievements for our school.\n\n\n<h2>League successes in 2017<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n<ul>\n \t\n\n<li>Woodlands placed 2nd in its respective pool in the Indwe Cricket League<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n<h2>Tournament successes in 2017<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n<ul>\n \t\n\n<li>Jayden Claassen was selected to be part of the Boksburg Under 15 cricket team and attended the Eastern Cricket Trials in October 2017 where he had the opportunity to participate in the regional Easterns team that qualifies for provincial trials<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n<h2>League successes in 2019<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n<ul>\n \t\n\n<li>Woodlands placed 3<sup>rd<\/sup> in the u15 cricket league.<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cricket is a sport that reaches across boundaries of gender, race and class.
