It is almost impossible to over emphasise the importance of the physical development of the child. At Woodlands Pre-Primary we endorse the notion that when students are physically fit, they will perform at a higher level academically. Sport encourages camaraderie among the children and develops team spirit. It helps children to hone mental agility and build physical robustness.
Studies have shown that exercise increases blood flow to the brain and helps the body build more connections between nerves, leading to increased concentration, enhanced memory, stimulated creativity, and better-developed problem solving skills. In short, playing sports helps the brain grow and makes it work more optimally. At Woodlands Pre-Primary children gain additional confidence through a participation in sport, and seeing their hard work yield dividends has a positive impact on their selfesteem. When children achieve their sporting goals they make the connection between application and the attainment of any other goal they set for themselves later in life.
As long as your child is involved in sports activities, he or she is functioning in the realm where they endeavour to be the best they can be. All of the child’s senses, the locomotor system, and intellectual capacities are engaged. By playing sports your child will not only become stronger physically but mentally too. Best of all, he or she will learn how to overcome any obstacles and challenges that will inevitably present themselves along the way.
Apart from including Action Ball and Sports Skills Training as part of our daily programme, Woodlands Pre-Primary also provides a wide range of enrichment outsourced extracurricular activities offered in the afternoons. We encourage every child to find something which they enjoy thereby enabling them to develop key personal qualities, attitudes and skills.
