In Grades 8 and 9 the following minimum pass rates are required to be achieved:

  • English (Home Language) – minimum of 50%
  • Afrikaans or isiZulu (First Additional Language) – minimum of 45%
  • Mathematics – minimum of 50%
  • Economic Management Sciences (including Accounting and Business Studies) – minimum of 50%
  • Social Sciences:
    • Geography – minimum of 50%
    • History – minimum of 50%
  • Natural Sciences:
    • Life Sciences – minimum of 50%
    • Physical Sciences – minimum of 50%
  • Computer Literacy and Technology (including Technical Design, Computer Applications and Introduction to Coding) – minimum of 50%
  • Life Orientation – minimum of 50%
  • Creative Arts (including Art, Drama and Music) – minimum of 50%
