“There’s not enough art in our schools or in our children’s lives. Ask almost any parent, and they’ll say that arts education is very important to their child’s well being” – National Arts Education, Public Awareness Campaign.

At Woodlands International College, we could not agree more.   We strive to offer our students the opportunity to experience first-hand, both in and out of the classroom, as many Fine and Performance Arts experiences as possible.

The cultural dimension of a child’s education is viewed as an intrinsic part of our academic curriculum. Grade 7 and 8 students attend “Cultural Blocks” in terms of which each class is exposed to one term of Drama, one term of Art and one term of Music & Dance. The teachers who supervise these subjects are dedicated subject specialists and our students are exposed to the Performance and Fine Arts at the highest level. At the end of their Grade 8 year, the students are permitted to select one of the Performance or Fine Art subjects as their subject of choice for their Grade 9 year.  This allows our students to learn and master skills needed in order to take one of these subjects through to Matric.  Beyond the classroom a whole world of theatrical opportunities awaits the more culturally minded and gifted students.
