“There’s not enough art in our schools or in our children’s lives. Ask almost any parent, and they’ll say that arts education is very important to their child’s well-being” – National Arts Education, Public Awareness Campaign.

At Woodlands International College, we could not agree more.   We strive to offer our students the opportunity to experience first-hand, both in and out of the classroom, as many Fine and Performance Arts experiences as possible.

The cultural dimension of a child’s education is viewed as an intrinsic part of our academic curriculum. Our Grade 7, 8 and 9 students receive expert tuition from subject specialists in Art and Drama and are also exposed to the Musical Arts through various musical clubs.  This equips them with an insight into the various arts fields and thus provide them with the option to continue with these subjects in the FET phase.

In all grades, our students are exposed to the value of creative and cultural pursuits.  This includes annual participation in festivals and eisteddfods, with Woodlands being one of the host schools of the Benoni Eisteddfod.  We also offer a choir and acapella group and teach marimbas to our students.  Debating, Public Speaking, Chess and various writing groups also allow our students to find their voice and personal expression.
