The Woodlands Intermediate Phase Chess Club has steadily grown in popularity with students participating in a highly contested intra-school league where students from Grade 4 to 7 compete on the same playing field. The Chess Club has branched out to offer the guidance and mentorship of an external coach to further hone their skills. The growth of the Chess Club is supported by the offering of Chess lessons for the Foundation Phase students with a highly qualified coach.
Exhibiting a strong competitive spirit, many of the Club members participate online in the Ekurhuleni League, while also competing in the SISA Chess League and in SISA Chess Tournaments.
