Mini-Hockey is offered in the Junior College from Grade 1 to 3. Friendly matches are arranged for our Mini-Hockey enthusiasts in the afternoon. Mini-Hockey is taught during integrated sports lessons during the school day, which is extended to accommodate the time spent on the field, with after school training provided to enhance their skills.

We cater for boys and girls of all age groups in our Hockey programme. Hockey is a growing sport, and we make use of our own multipurpose Astro-turf facilities. We have multiple specialised and outsourced coaches who assist our own Sport Department staff with coaching and team management. Through participation in school trials, several of our Hockey players have represented Woodlands each year on the Eastern Gauteng Team travelling to a variety of Inter-Provincial Tournaments. Our Under-10 to Under-13 boys and girls participate in the Eastern Hockey League during Term 2 and Term 3.

In 2022 our Under-13 boys won the League and were selected to participate in the Champs of Champs Competition held in Potchefstroom, while in 2024 our Under-13 girls placed second in their group, qualifying for the play-off for the first time in the College’s history.
With the completion of the Matthews Hall Indoor Sports Centre, Indoor Hockey has been opened up to our Intermediate Phase Hockey players, exposing them to the fast-paced skills of Indoor Hockey as well as to the skills of seasoned players, with the Matthews Hall having become the home of Eastern Gauteng Men’s Indoor Hockey.
