T-Ball is a beginner version of baseball or softball. The major difference is that instead of traditional pitching, as in baseball, the batter hits the ball off a stationary “T” set at the average height of a five-to-nine year old. The concept was introduced as the younger child frequently battles to pitch or throw the ball consistently well.

This sport is very popular in the Foundation Phase. Both boys and girls play T-Ball. Four teams per grade are selected and entered into the East Rand League. The season runs from the end of September to November. Every year our A teams in each grade compete in the ‘End of Year’ tournament held at Benoni Northerns fields on a Saturday. This is a knockout tournament, and Woodlands Junior College has had much success over the years, including winning the tournament on a number of occasions.
