Woodlands International College was gratified by the strong showing of its Matriculation Class of 2024. Building on its respected 23-year academic track record, and the stellar results of the Class of 2023, the College achieved a 95% Bachelor’s Degree pass rate, and maintained its consecutive 100% pass rate since inception.

Whilst the IEB recorded a 98.47% pass rate (its highest in five years), with 89.37% of candidates earning entry to degree study, Woodlands materially outperformed both levels.

Priding itself on its small, personalised classes and high teacher-to-student ratio, the College’s Matric group of 58 students delivered an impressive 82 distinctions, and 115 B-symbols, between them.

At a special ceremony held to formally announce the results, Senior College Deputy Principal Mrs Justine Harvey remarked, “Naturally, we are delighted at the gratifying performance of our students.” adding “Our results speak for themselves, and illustrate the power of a liberal, balanced education which challenges each pupil to think, question, and strive for excellence.”

Top performer Jada Maseti exceeded the formidable 90% average level, achieving an aggregate of 91% and a full-house of seven distinctions (top-1% of IEB candidates nationally for both English Home Language and Computer Applications Technology, and top-5% in five subjects, with a rating of seven in Life Orientation). A further six students – Anabella Barreira; Simankele Ndindwa; Jet-Amie De Rouwe; Katelynn Pick; Mathieu Hattingh (top-1% of IEB candidates nationally for Afrikaans First Additional Language); and Brian Li vaulted the 80% average level, resulting in an impressive 12% of the total group exceeding this threshold. Two candidates, representing three subjects, catapulted 5% of Woodlands’ Matriculants into the illustrious top-1% nationally. Jada and Simankele are studying Engineering this year, while Anabella is reading for Biomedical Science.

Woodlands offers a wide and challenging choice of subjects in its FET Phase (Grades 10-12), allowing students to structure a highly tailored suite of disciplines for their all-important Matric year, and to complement their interests and academic strengths. Says Senior College Director Audrey Matthews, “Woodlands stands tall with its proven track record of delivering outstanding multidisciplinary educational curricula designed to empower the young people of our country.”
